Motivational Boxercise

Motivational Boxercise

The YDP Cambridge Boxercise programme is currently being delivered in a large number of primary and secondary schools, as well as pupil referral units and alternative provision hubs.

Initially, it gives young people the opportunity to gain a bronze, silver and gold award in Boxercise. However, some pupils will go on to achieve a young leader's award which enables them to assist YDP Cambridge coaches in delivering the sessions. Since launching, we have had a number of students join the YDP coaching team after participating in this scheme.

Success Stories

"In one school, over 80% of the group's behaviour had improved whilst enrolled on the programme. The same school also reported that the children's attendance had improved by 90%. Most importantly, every young person informed the school and YDP that they felt more confident and had enjoyed the sessions."

What to expect from a Motivational Boxercise session?

  • Non-contact exercise based on Boxing training.

  • Learn a variety of punches and defence techniques, incorporated with physical activity.

  • Students taught discipline and respect, and encouraged to make positive choices inside and outside of school.

  • Improves fitness, as well as boosting confidence and self-esteem.

  • Enables an outlet for young people to release stress and allows them to focus on something positive.

  • These sessions are suitable for ALL students, but can be particularly beneficial to those with low self-esteem, lacking motivation or are disruptive in lessons.
